4th Year Social Outreach
Through our social outreach we seek to foster a sense of value and a commitment to the service of others. This community based work increases social awareness and social competence. It allows for growth in maturity and confidence and for a greater appreciation for others and the world in which we live.
Transition Years participate in a variety of outreach and community activities throughout the year including the following:
-
Three timetabled periods per week taking part in community based work in local schools and hospitals.
-
Daily volunteer work in local nursing homes and hospitals.
-
Weekly volunteer work on the Friend’s of the Elderly Friendship line.
-
Charity work for a variety of charities involving bag packs, street collections, church gate collections and carol singing.
-
St. Vincent de Paul toy appeal.
-
A timetabled two week social outreach placement.
