Seachtain na Gaeilge

D’éirigh thar barr le Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024 i mbliana. Bhí atmaisféar beomhar agus corraitheach timpeall na scoile le linn na seachtaine. Bhí imeachtaí ar nós céilí mór, tráth na gceist, dúshláin trasnáin, an poc fada, ceol traidisiúnta, Scrabble as Gaeilge ar siúl gach lá agus bhain na daltaí an-taitneamh as an tseachtain uilig.

Ba bhreá linn ár mbuíochas a ghabhail le Ms McKay mar stiúrthóir an chéilí, Mrs O’Brien leis an mbanna ceoil traidisiúnta agus an ceol álainn chomh maith leis na múinteoirí go léir a thug tacaíocht dúinn i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Bhí an t-ádh linn gur thug Gaelbhratach cuairt ar an scoil agus táimid an-bhródúil as an sár-obair a rinne an coiste Gaelbhratach chun an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn anseo i Gonzaga. Bronnfar an bhratach don scoil ar an 15ú Bealtaine i Luimneach agus tá an coiste ag tnúth go mór leis.

Comhghairdeas le Cormac Hannon, MacDara Hickey agus Conall Keane sa séú bliain. Ghlac siad páirt i gComórtas Díospóireacht an Phiarsaigh agus d’éirigh go han mhaith leo. Bronnadh an Fáinne Óir orthu mar gheall ar a bhfonn, a ngrá agus a gcumas sa Ghaeilge.

“Is fiú í an Ghaeilge a spreagadh i Gonzaga!”

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024 was very successful this year. There was a lively exciting atmosphere around the school during the week. There were events on throughout the week such as the céilí, quiz, crossbar challenge, an poc fada, traditional music, Irish scrabble and the students really enjoyed the whole week.

We would like to thank the céilí director Ms McKay, the music director Mrs O’Brien alongside the trad band for providing the beautiful music as well as all the teachers who supported us throughout the week.

We were lucky to have Gaelbhratach visit our school and we are very proud of the amazing work that the Gaeltbhratach committee has done to promote Irish here in Gonzaga. The flag will be awarded to the school on the 15th of May in Limerick and the committee are looking forward to it.

Congratulations to Cormac Hannon, MacDara Hickey and Conall Keane in 6th year. They took part in the debating competition ‘Comórtas Díospóireacht an Phiarsaigh’ and did very well. They were awarded the Fáinne Óir due to their enthusiasm, love and ability in Irish.
