Past v Present Rugby

Raising awareness of the Copper Beech Trust, the Past Pupils' Union benevolent fund, the inaugural Past v Present Christmas Fixture took place under floodlights yesterday evening in Gonzaga College SJ. Due to the restrictions we limited refreshments to the outdoors and although cold, it was thankfully crisp and dry. It was wonderful to see so many alumni and their parents join current students and their parents where the current Senior Cup Team took on a team of very enthusiastic alumni who have left the College in the last five years – it was a convincing win for the Past Pupil team. Senior Cup Rugby Manager Gareth Pelly handed out jerseys to the SCT panel from 2021 afterwards at the mince pie and hot drink reception outdoors. Thanks to Brian Whelan from the Copper Beech Trust and his company Family Cover for sponsoring the Past Pupil kit and to Matt Meagher Class of '18 for designing the kit, organising the event and mobilising the alumni team.
