Malawi Clean Energy Stoves Appeal

This Lent, all five Irish Jesuit Secondary Schools are supporting the Irish Jesuit Missions Office's Lenten ' Malawi Clean Energy Stoves' campaign which focuses on ecology and climate change. All money raised will go towards improving lives and the environment through the adoption of fuel-efficient cooking stoves in rural Malawi, where almost 90% of the population have no access to electricity. The stoves use far less fuel than traditional open fires and they will help to prevent the rapid deforestation which is devastating the country. They will also help to prevent dangerous respiratory illnesses caused by breathing in toxic smoke. Students will be given sponsorship cards, and every €12 raised will provide one family with an energy efficient stove, which will be provided by the Jesuit Centre for Ecology and Development in Malawi. Thank you in advance for your support.
