Alexandra College Play 'When They Go Low'

Well done to the four Fifth Year students - Ben Delaney, John Linehan, Eoin MacNulty, and Eoin Sadlier - who took part in Alexandra College Senior DramSoc's production of the play ‘When They Go Low’ by Natalie Mitchell in March 2022. This play explores everyday sexism, feminism, consent and the changing face of teenage sexuality in an online world.

Congratulations to Lynn Brehony and to all the cast and crew on a superb production.

Thanks to Luke Brehony for the photos.

The class of 2022 presented The Ladykillers by Graham Linehan on 13, 14, and 15 October 2021. See photos here.

Directed by Mr Finucane and Ms Ní Bhraonáin. Set design by Ms R. McCarthy and Ms Keogh.

Scene: Mrs. Wilberforce likes to report suspicious behaviour to the police. Unaware of her reputation, the dapper thief Professor Marcus rents rooms in the elderly widow's home for himself and his band of cohorts. Posing as a string quintet, the thieves pull off a bank robbery, but slip up in front of the old woman as they try to escape. Agreed that they need to murder her, the bumbling crooks wind up double-crossing each other and slowly killing themselves off.
Time: The action takes place in King’s Cross, London
from 5th to 9th November 1956

The class of 2020 presented A Few Good Men by Aaron Sorkin.

See photos here.

The play is a thrilling courtroom drama about Lt Daniel Kaffee (Cillian O Donnell), a young and inexperienced military lawyer defending two U.S. marines charged with killing a fellow marine at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba. Although Kaffee is known for seeking plea bargains, a fellow lawyer, Lt. Joe Galloway (Conor Finlay), convinces him that the accused marines were most likely carrying out an order from a commanding officer. Will Kaffee try and make a deal or go head to head with the fearsome Colonel Nathan Jessup (James Agnew) and uncover a larger conspiracy? With a large cast, this gripping and exciting drama is sure to have you on the edge of your seat.

The Coulson Theatre: Wednesday 9th, Thursday 10th and Friday 11th October at 7.30pm sharp.

The Class of 2019 presented Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring. See photos here.

The play is a farcical black comedy revolving around the Brewster family, descended from the Mayflower settlers, but now composed of insane homicidal maniacs. The hero, Mortimer Brewster, is a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and local police in Brooklyn, New York, as he debates whether to go through with his recent promise to marry the woman he loves, Elaine Harper, who lives next door and is the daughter of the local minister. Murder, mayhem and comedy abound in this surprising and hilarious long-running play.

The Coulson Theatre Wednesday 17th, Thursday 18th & Friday 19th October 2018.

The Odd Couple

The Class of 2018 presented The Odd Couple By Neil Simon

The Coulson Theatre Wednesday 18, Thursday 19 & Friday 20 October.

With kind permission of Samuel French Publishing.

See photos of the show here.

Felix "Eoghan Quinn" and Oscar "Felix McEnroy"  are an extremely odd couple: Felix is neurotic, precise, and fastidiously clean. Oscar, on the other hand, is the exact opposite: sloppy and casual. Following troubles in their respective marriages, they begin sharing an apartment together, and their differing lifestyles inevitably lead to some conflicts and laughs'.

The Importance of Being Earnest

The Sixth Years of Gonzaga College performed Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest in the Coulson theatre on Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th of October 2015.

In the play two young gentlemen living in 1890's England use the same pseudonym ("Ernest") on the sly, which is fine until they both fall in love with women using that name, which leads to a comedy of mistaken identities. Alongside students from Muckross College, the boys have worked incredibly hard, especially the two brave boys who have taken on female roles.

Co-directors:  Mr. Finucane & Ms Ni Bhraonain
Stage designer:   Ms Keogh.
